Safeguarding

East of England’s safeguarding work ensures that the principles and duties of safeguarding adults and children are carried out across our region.

This includes preventing the risk of significant harm from abuse and exploitation, and simultaneously supporting people to take control of their own lives by making informed choices.

We also fully support the Government’s objectives to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking and recognise the significant role the NHS has to play in both combating it, and supporting victims.

Safeguarding adults and children at risk of abuse or neglect is a collective responsibility. While individuals and organisations have distinct roles, the system cannot operate effectively unless individuals and organisations work together.
