Please note this guidance was issued before the announcement made by Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) on 9 November. DHSC announced that individuals undertaking Care Quality Commission regulated activities in England must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than 1 April 2022 to protect patients, regardless of their employer, including secondary and primary care. The regulations will apply equally across the public (NHS) and independent health sector.

For guidance on how to support COVID-19 vaccine uptake in frontline staff,  please see Phase 1 – Planning and preparation.
