Dorset County Hospital and Dorset HealthCare are two NHS organisations with strong identities, proud histories and deep roots in the communities we serve. Over recent years, we have chosen to work more closely together through a federated leadership model, with a joint Chair and Chief Executive. This approach allows us to improve the quality and coordination of care across acute, community and mental health services, while maintaining clear accountability and strong governance within each Trust.
We are now looking to appoint four Non-Executive Directors, including at least one joint role serving across both Boards, alongside roles aligned to either Dorset County Hospital or Dorset HealthCare.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will bring independent judgement, insight and constructive challenge. You will support and hold our executive team to account, help shape strategy and oversee delivery, and ensure that quality, safety, financial sustainability and organisational culture remain at the centre of our decision-making. You will also play a key role in helping us think beyond organisational boundaries and in the best interests of the people and communities we serve.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in finance, partnership working, (including with VCSE organisations or primary care), strategic transformation or commercial innovation, commissioning and health systems, and mental health and/or allied health professions. Previous board experience is welcome but not essential for all roles. What matters most is sound judgement, curiosity, integrity and a strong commitment to public service.
