West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Designate Non-executive Director – Chair of Audit Committee

As one of the region’s largest employers, with over 5,000 staff and more than 650,000 patient interactions each year, we are proud to serve as an anchor institution in West Hertfordshire. Our vision—“Excellent patient care, together”—guides everything we do, and reflects our commitment to working in partnership across the health and care system to improve outcomes for all.

We have made significant progress in recent years in transforming services, improving patient experience, and creating a positive working environment for our staff. Our pioneering Virtual Hospital model has received national and international recognition, and our adoption of the Electronic Patient Record is enabling safer, more integrated care. Furthermore, we have now formally become a host provider on behalf of the South and West Hertfordshire Health and Care Partnership and have taken on delegated responsibility for commissioning a subset of adult community services from April 2025 and acute contracts from October 2025.

This year we are also very proud that we won NHS Trust of the Year and Performance Recovery at the prestigious Health Service Journal awards, which recognises the incredible hard work, dedication and passion of teams across our Trust.

We’re now looking ahead to a period of major redevelopment, alongside the delivery of our refreshed clinical, digital, and workforce strategies. We have exciting plans, and we are looking for a talented and experienced leader to add value to our forward-thinking Board and play a critical role as a (Designate) Non-Executive Director with the experience to Chair our Audit Committee.

The best boards are those that reflect the workforce and communities they serve. We particularly welcome applications from women, people from local black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, and people with disabilities, who we know are all under-represented in these important roles.

The closing date for applications is Thursday 5th February 2026.
