We are continuing our journey to improve pathways and deliver high-quality care through the Great North Healthcare Alliance, working collaboratively with partner trusts across Gateshead, Newcastle, Northumbria and North Cumbria.

We are currently advertising for 2 roles – a NED with Clinical expertise and an Associate NED (ANED) with people expertise.

As a NED, you are required to provide independence of thought and constructive challenge as well as support executives and demonstrate commitment to the enduring values of NHS.

Essential criteria for the NED role includes:

  • Recent Board or senior level leadership experience gained in a large and complex organisation with experience as a member of a Board Committee.
  • Previous experience as a medical practitioner, nurse, midwife or allied health professional, within the NHS or private healthcare, or as a clinical academic.
  • Clinical governance experience, including knowledge of clinical governance frameworks used to improve quality of care for patients and ensure full accountability.
  • Effective communication and engagement skills, including the ability to actively listen, promote discussion of views, welcome constructive challenge and be approachable.
  • A strong commitment to developing effective collaborative relationships with partners and key stakeholders

Essential criteria for the ANED role includes:

  • Board or senior level people/HR leadership experience gained in a large and complex organisation with experience as a member of a Board Committee.
  • A qualified HR professional with current professional registration or substantial senior HR leadership experience.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
