Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Non-executive Director

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Non-executive Director who brings significant experience in strategic partnership working across complex systems, and will be able to support the Trust to deliver high-quality, integrated care through effective collaboration with system partners.

Applications will be able to contribute to the Board’s leadership by providing independent oversight, constructive challenge and strategic guidance, with a particular focus on cross-sector collaboration. In particular, they will:

  • Provide expertise and oversight on the Trust’s role within the Integrated Care System and wider partnerships
  • Support the development of strong, mature relationships with:
    • NHS partner organisations
    • Local authorities
    • Primary care and community services
    • Voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector
  • Act as a critical friend in assessing the effectiveness of collaborative delivery models and system-wide initiatives
  • Support oversight of transformation programmes, particularly those involving multi-agency working

Candidates will need to be able to think strategically and have the ability to challenge, influence and build consensus on a wide range of issues.

The successful candidate will also understand the complexities of working in a multi-site operation, think beyond organisational boundaries, bring high levels of personal and business integrity and be able to ensure exemplary standards of quality, probity and governance. With experience of challenging and debating constructively in a Board environment, the sector in which they may have worked is less important than a commitment to engaging with patients, carers, partners and the community.
