Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Non-executive Director x 2
We are seeking to appoint exceptional candidates to become Non-executive Directors, to support us in delivering a once-in-a-generation transformation in how care is provided and experienced across Mid Cheshire. At the heart of our approach is a commitment to providing high-quality, connected care across hospital, community and neighbourhood settings – improving outcomes through prevention, personalisation and strong partnerships, and creating a healthier future for the people we serve.
This is a significant opportunity to bring your experience and insight to an organisation at the forefront of transforming care across Cheshire, working collaboratively with partners to improve health and wellbeing for our communities.
Rated ‘good’ by the CQC, Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital and community services to the people of Cheshire and beyond across three core sites: Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford alongside five care communities. We are well led, with a strong and inclusive culture, underpinned by clear values and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. We employ around 6,000 people and are one of the main employers in the Crewe area.
We play a proactive role within the Cheshire & Merseyside Integrated Care System, working closely with system partners across Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester to deliver more integrated, joined-up care.
At the heart of our Trust strategy is a clear commitment to delivering innovative, responsive and integrated care through a neighbourhood model, supporting people to stay well for longer, with care delivered closer to home wherever possible. This direction of travel aligns closely with the ambitions of the NHS Ten-Year Health Plan. This is underpinned by ambitious programmes of estate, digital and corporate transformation, including the introduction of a shared Electronic Patient Record in 2025 with neighbouring East Cheshire NHS Trust, improving coordination, safety and experience for patients and teams.
We are a pathfinder in the national New Hospital Programme for the ‘Hospital 2.0’ blueprint, with a new Leighton Health and Care Neighbourhood set to open in 2033. This represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape how care is delivered, creating modern, sustainable and digitally enabled environments that support our people and improve outcomes for our communities.
The Opportunities
We are looking for collaborative and strategic candidates to provide support, oversight, governance and leadership, who can bring insights in the fields of finance, people or change management. One of the roles will include chairing our Performance & Finance Committee.
You will join a strong and high-performing Board, comprised of individuals with a wide range of professional backgrounds and lived experience, to make a positive difference to the wellbeing of our communities and workforce. We value diversity and so we are keen to ensure our Board represents the populations it serves and that we maintain a good balance of views, skills and experience in the Board. Equality of opportunity is a fundamental principle, and applications are therefore encouraged from candidates of all backgrounds.
If you have a commitment and passion for the NHS and want to contribute to a Trust that is ambitious, inclusive and rooted in its community, we would be delighted to hear from you.
