Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Non-executive Directors x2

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for two experienced and committed people to join our Board as Non-Executive Directors.

We are an ambitious, values-led organisation serving Bradford and the wider district. Our communities are among the most diverse in the country, and they also experience some of the most significant and persistent health inequalities, which gives our work real purpose. We need Board members who are ready to understand Bradford, its people, its strengths, its challenges, and appreciate the difference that thoughtful, determined leadership can make to our communities.

More than 6,500 colleagues provide care around the clock across our hospitals. Alongside delivering acute care services, we are a major teaching and research organisation, home to the internationally recognised Bradford Institute for Health Research and a trusted partner to universities, health and care organisations and local communities.

This is an important time to join us. We have made clear progress in strengthening leadership, governance and culture, reflected in the Care Quality Commission’s Good rating for how well the Trust is led. We are proud of that progress, but we are not complacent. There is more to do, particularly in relation to culture, workforce, inclusion and speaking up.

We are looking for Non-Executive Directors who will bring sound judgement, constructive challenge and a clear focus on what is best for patients, colleagues and communities. You will need to be comfortable dealing with complexity, asking direct questions and working collectively with fellow Board members and the executive team.

We are particularly interested in candidates with senior-level experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • people, organisational development and culture;
  • digital transformation, innovation and the use of technology to improve care;
  • capital development or health planning;
  • commercial, strategic or wider business leadership.

Professional expertise matters, but it is not the whole job. We are also looking for people who listen well, understand the importance of inclusive leadership and recognise that decisions made in the Boardroom have a direct impact on people’s lives.

You may already know Bradford well, or you may be ready to invest the time needed to build that understanding. Either way, you will share our commitment to improving health outcomes, reducing inequalities and making sure our services work for all the communities we serve.

Our Board benefits from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives and lived experiences. We welcome interest from candidates who can add something different to our collective leadership and who will help us think more widely, challenge ourselves and make better decisions.

This is a demanding role, but a worthwhile one. You will be joining a Trust with ambition, strong local roots and a clear responsibility to serve Bradford well.

If that appeals to you, we would be pleased to hear from you and encourage you to speak to our partners Simon Green or Michael Earnshaw at Alumni Global on +447719 055971 and visit www.alumniglobal.com/job/bthft-neds for further information and details of how to apply.
