University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, Associate Non-executive Director
University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG) is seeking to appoint an Associate Non-executive Director to join the Board of one of the largest healthcare groups in the country. This is an exciting developmental opportunity for an individual who is motivated by public service and wishes to gain first-hand experience of Board-level leadership, governance and decision-making within the NHS.
UHLG brings together Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust and Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, serving communities across Liverpool, Cheshire and Merseyside through shared leadership, services and ambition.
The Associate Non-executive Director role has been designed for individuals who aspire to progress into substantive Non-executive Director positions in the future but who may not yet have Board-level non-executive experience. The successful candidate will receive structured development, mentoring and support from the Chair and experienced Non-Executive Directors whilst gaining valuable insight into how effective NHS Boards operate.
As an Associate Non-executive Director, you will attend Board meetings in an observational and developmental capacity, developing your understanding of NHS governance, assurance, strategy, finance, workforce, quality and population health. You will have opportunities to contribute constructively to discussions, ask thoughtful questions and bring your own perspective, experience and insight to Board deliberations.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who can broaden the diversity of thought around our Board by bringing different perspectives, lived experience, community understanding or professional expertise. We welcome applicants from all sectors and backgrounds, including those whose career pathways have not followed traditional NHS leadership routes.
