‘Think Pharmacy First’ Campaign

The service will be supported by ‘Think Pharmacy First’ communications materials to help promote its availability. This includes posters, social media content and information that can added to partner websites. We are also producing regional materials to support, and these will be shared with ICB communications teams when ready.

The Pharmacy First service launched across the country in January this year. The new service incorporates the previous NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service and builds on it to enable community pharmacy to see and treat the public for seven common conditions following specific clinical pathways.

Treatment is available for:

  • impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
  • infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
  • earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
  • sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
  • sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
  • urinary tract infections (UTIs) (women aged 16 to 64 years)
  • shingles (aged 18 years and over).

All campaign resources can be downloaded, free of charge, from the Campaign Resource Centre.

  • downloading the campaign resources and sharing these with your colleagues, including local community pharmacies offering the new service, local communications networks and community organisations.
  • promoting the public displays in your local area if appropriate (pharmacy signage takeovers will be in Lewes, Sutton and Aldeburgh)
  • sharing our campaign messages on social media, websites, email, and staff intranets to reach as wide an audience as possible
