Richard Schofield

Locality Director, Director of Strategic Transformation and NHS Greener South West Senior Responsible Officer

Richard works in the Strategy and Transformation Directorate, currently focused on ICS Development, major reconfiguration schemes and system oversight. Richard was appointed as the Senior Responsible Officer for Greener NHS in the South West and has been involved in Net Zero initiatives for twenty years.

In the last two years Richard has worked in the ICC, the Transport & Estates Cell (who knew there was so much to learn about Oxygen supplies). Now his focus is on looking at big initiatives to increase capacity to aid recovery and supporting the creation of place based integration to deliver great health and well being outcomes for individuals in their local communities

Richard would love everyone to embrace the Net Zero commitment. Smarter use of technology will empower people to make decisions about their own wellbeing and really focus on more local solutions

Nicky Philpott

Head of Sustainability and Net Zero – South West

Nicky is newly appointed Head of Sustainability and Net Zero in the South West joining from the national Greener NHS programme where she was Deputy Director and responsible for areas such as research and innovation, transforming models of care, engaging staff and communications.

She led the NHS’ work on COP26 ensuring that health was recognised as a driver for climate action, that the voices of health professionals were central to negotiations and other health care systems globally joined the NHS in making a commitment to reach net zero.

Previously Nicky was director of the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change and has also held various policy, public affairs and campaigns roles at UK charities including the NSPCC, the Ramblers and Age UK.

Dr Tobin Savage

Net Zero Delivery Lead – South West

As our Senior Net Zero Delivery Lead in the South West, Tobin will lead and be responsible for the overall design and delivery of strategic and operational plans across a defined range of Greener NHS projects and workstreams in the South West. Tobin will work closely with our seven ICS Systems, drawing in national and international best practice relating to their workstreams to see how this can be embedded in our South West Greener NHS Programme.

Charlotte Bawden

Net Zero Delivery Manager – South West

Charlotte is our Net Zero Delivery Manager for the South West Greener NHS team and her role focuses on ensuring the team’s delivery of a Net Zero NHS, supporting ICS’ to implement their Green Plans as well as sharing innovation and good practice across the South West.

Charlotte will be working with our systems across the South West to harness the enthusiasm everyone has about the Greener NHS agenda and highlighting the great initiatives across the South West which demonstrate the passion and commitment within the Systems.

Will Grant

Net Zero Project Manager, Greener NHS Team

I am pleased to hear that our brilliant South West Greener NHS Team has welcomed its final member this month, making the team complete. Will Grant has joined as our Net Zero Project Manager having previously worked as a Sustainability Consultant. Will’s focus will be managing the delivery of Greener NHS projects within the region, with a specific focus on the Travel & Transport and Estates & Facilities workstreams. Will shall also be working within the region, aiming to highlight the amazing work being done by trusts and ICSs across the South West to help inspire innovative ideas to help us achieve net zero.
