NHS Clinical Commissioners and Ipsos MORI have today published the findings of the Ways of Working survey.

This independent survey was commissioned by NHS Clinical Commissioners and asked CCGs about how NHS England is modelling the Ways of Working (launched at the NHS England’s Leadership Forum in July) across its three roles of assurance, support and co-commissioning (both for primary care and specialised services). The survey looks at results at national, regional and area team level.

Rosamond Roughton, NHS England’s National Director for Commissioning Development, said: “We welcome this valuable feedback and will be considering the detail carefully.  In a short space of time, NHS England and CCGs have accomplished a great deal. To keep up the momentum, it’s important to understand our strengths and areas where we can develop further.

“It’s good to see some very positive views of ways of working in the new commissioning system and we are particularly pleased that the survey shows good relationships between area teams and CCGs. Developing strong relationships is vital to ensuring the new commissioning system delivers the best possible outcomes for patients.

“We will consider the findings of this report alongside the other pieces of work we are currently undertaking to seek feedback from staff, CCGs, national partners and patients and the public through patient representative bodies. The findings of all of this feedback will play an important part of the NHS England organisational development plan.”

NHS England’s Chair, Sir Malcolm Grant, will be considering NHS Clinical Commissioners recommendations and respond shortly.

NHS England will use the findings to help drive its organisational development plan.
