Appointment of Dr Dominic Slowie – National Clinical Director for Learning Disability

NHS England is pleased to announce the appointment of a new National Clinical Director by the Medical Directorate at NHS England, Dr Dominic Slowie, NCD for Learning Disability.

At the NHS Commissioning Board’s Medical Leadership Conference in March this year, the National Medical Director, Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, announced the appointment of 23 National Clinical Directors (NCDs). Their roles are to work with NHS England to provide clinical leadership and support towards delivering improved health outcomes across the five domains of the NHS Outcomes Framework, set out in objectives within the Secretary of State’s Mandate.

Dominic established and chaired the North East and Cumbria Learning Disability Network.  He is a GP by clinical background and continues his clinical work three sessions a week.  He was also senior medical tutor at Newcastle University Medical School.

    Dear Dr Slowie I would like to invite you to attend the 10th POSITIVE CHOICES conference on the 20/21st of March at the Rose theatre Kingston Upon Thames:
    we are a group of University Lecturers who each year organise a free to access conference for student nurses (who are not salaried) in learning disability nursing, people with a learning disability and those that love them.     Our 10th anniversary conference will be held on March 20/21st 2014 in the Rose theatre Kingston Upon Thames and will be for 800 delegates.
