Praise and gratitude marks International Nurses Day
A video by Jane Cummings, Chief Nursing Officer for England, has been released to mark International Nurses Day and International Day of the Midwife.
In the video, Jane looks at:
- The focus of the NHS Five Year Forward View on preventing ill health, promoting health and wellbeing, and working with patients and communities in delivering new models of care
- The Shape of Caring Review and the importance of investing in consistently high quality education and training for nurses, midwives and care assistants
- The principles of the recently relaunched Nursery and Midwifery Council Code.
“Nurses and midwives do an exceptional job all year round and are vital in not only helping the health and care system meet the increasing and changing needs of our patients today but also in developing and delivering an NHS and care system that is fit for the future,” says Jane.
See Jane’s video below and see the 6Cs Live! website for a programme of activities including a Twitter chat, webinars and a live Twitter montage wall featuring photos taken by nursing staff throughout the day.

Greetings to all the nurses. I always want to be a nurse not only as a profession but passion of giving care and caring other people mainly kids and elderly is my main concern.
