Lord Carter started his new tenure on 1 July 2018. The terms of the other five appointees will commence from 1 August 2018. All six board members will serve for three years.

‘I am delighted to welcome such a diverse and talented group of people to join the NHS Improvement’s board and that Lord Carter and Lord Darzi will continue to serve.

‘I am confident each appointee will bring their unique expertise to enhance our oversight of NHS Improvement — while complementing the contributions of our existing members.

‘As NHS Improvement continues to work at pace with NHS England to develop coherent system leadership across the NHS, alongside the development of the Ten-Year Plan for the NHS, their input will be invaluable.

‘On behalf of the rest of the board, I would like to offer our new appointees a warm welcome to the organisation. I would also like to thank Sigurd Reinton and Sarah Harkness for their tremendous contributions as they will be stepping down from our board having served two terms.’
