NHS reports more than a quarter of a million COVID boosters over jabby New Year

Commenting on statistics released today showing 326,152 coronavirus vaccinations, including some 260,218 boosters or third doses, were reported over New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and January 2nd.

Dr Emily Lawson, NHS vaccination lead said: “Thanks to the continued efforts of NHS staff and volunteers, 326,152 COVID vaccinations – including over a quarter of a million booster or third doses – were reported over New Year’s Eve and the weekend.

“This is no time for complacency and no time to let up, dedicated staff and volunteers continued and are continuing to offer jabs throughout the bank holiday weekend just as they did over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with enough capacity available for people who come forward.

“Vaccination continues to be our best protection against serious illness, so I encourage anybody who hasn’t yet got their booster or who isn’t vaccinated at all to come forward without delay to get the best protection on offer against coronavirus”.
