NHS 111’s National Advisor calls for more collaboration

NHS England’s National Medical Advisor to NHS 111 says the new vision of Integrated Urgent Care requires true collaborative working in the development of clinical hubs.

In the first of a series of video blogs outlining the work being done to make NHS 111 the “front door to urgent and emergency care”, Dr Helen Thomas calls on 111 providers, Out Of Hours services and Out Of Hospital provision to all be part of the new hubs.

She says the new hubs will “reduce the need for clinicians to make complex decisions in isolation” as well as reducing inappropriate dispositions from 111 to primary care or Emergency Departments.
