This guidance outlines principles for providers to help them deliver personalised, patient-centred communications to patients who are waiting for planned care. It has been produced by NHS England with support from Age UK, Healthwatch, National Voices, Patients Association, The Neurological Alliance and Versus Arthritis.

This document is primarily aimed at acute and community trusts and referring clinicians but may also be of interest to the wider system.
