Booking your NHS winter flu vaccination
You can book a free winter NHS flu vaccination because your NHS record suggests you may have a long-term health condition. We’ll need to confirm this before you are vaccinated.
How to get your flu vaccination
- Phone 119
- Contact your GP surgery
- Book a pharmacy appointment on the NHS App or online at nhs.uk/book-flu-jab (if you’re aged 18 or over)
- Find a pharmacy at nhs.uk/flu-pharmacy (if you’re aged 18 or over)
It’s best to get vaccinated as soon as you can ahead of the colder months.
If you need support
119 offers support in 200 languages. Translators are available.
You can also use text phone 18001 119 or the NHS British Sign Language service at www.signvideo.co.uk/nhs119.
If you get your care at home, contact your GP surgery and ask for a home visit.

Why the NHS is offering a winter flu vaccination
Flu spreads more easily in winter and can be hard to avoid. Every year, thousands of people with long-term health conditions need hospital care for flu. It’s important you have your vaccination every year to reduce your risk of severe symptoms as protection fades over time and viruses change. Read more at www.nhs.uk/flujab.
Other NHS vaccinations
If you haven’t already, you may be able to get:
- a pneumococcal vaccination (if you are at higher risk of getting seriously ill)
- shingles vaccinations (if you are aged 18 and over with a severely weakened immune system)
