Key items discussed

1. Discussed NHS England Digital Data and Technology staffing resources.

2. Discussion regarding the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the risk assessment process in decision making, and the need to issue clear guidance for use – in order to accelerate the safe roll out of productivity tools.

3. Noted that Innovation Research and Life Sciences Strategy (IRLSS) work is moving from the Transformation Directorate to the Director General, Science and Research, including productivity targets.

4. Agreed that Business Owners should be responsible and accountable for delivery of benefits included in business cases.

5. Acknowledged the importance of digital input into Modern Service Frameworks (MSFs), and ensuring that MSFs are digital by default and aligned with the improvement function.

6. Updated regarding the outcomes of Digital Maturity Assessments, in particular the large scale potential benefits from digital adoption.

7. It was reported that the Federated Data Platform (FDP) deployment is on track, and that there is good benefits realisation. It was explained that the current resident doctors’ industrial action has been managed via the FDP.

8. Updated regarding AI assisted triage, via the NHS App, to effectively guide patients to either self-care or the most appropriate care setting.

9. Heard that 95% of trusts have implemented an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and the next steps for frontline digitisation.

10. Updated on the planned legislation reform to enable improved outcomes through data sharing.
