Patient and Public Voice partner role: Specialised Commissioning Mental Health Programme of Care

Adult Secure Mental Health Clinical Reference Group

Our Specialised Commissioning Adult Secure Mental Health Clinical Reference Group (AS CRG) is seeking three new Patient and Public Voice (PPV) Partners.

The AS CRG covers the following specialised mental health (MH) services:

  • high secure
  • medium secure
  • low secure
  • community forensic

As a PPV partner, you will help to ensure the voices of people with lived experience are at the centre of everything the AS CRG takes forward. You will provide advice and guidance so that the most appropriate and progressive coproduction and involvement approaches are used, and you will work with AS CRG members to support the meaningful involvement of people with lived experience in all national activities.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have significant expertise and experience in coproduction and involvement, including the design and delivery of approaches within adult secure mental health services (listed above in bullet points)
  • have personal experience of accessing adult secure mental health services or experience of supporting people who have accessed these services i.e. as a family member or significant other
  • have experience of working with clinicians, commissioners and other professionals to make change happen using coproduction and involvement approaches strategically and operationally
  • have experience working with established networks of people who have accessed adult secure mental health services and/or networks of family/significant others of people who have accessed these services.
  • have a passion to make a difference across adult secure mental health services in collaboration with others

As a PPV partner, as a minimum, you will need to be able to actively participate in four meetings per year, mostly online, and to read papers sent in advance. This PPV partner role attracts an honorarium or involvement payment, and expenses are covered. If you need additional support, such as a British Sign Language interpreter, to be able to participate in the AS CRG meetings, NHS England would cover this cost.
