High levels of air pollution prompt precautionary health advice

Public Health England (PHE) scientists issue advice for parts of England and Wales.

In the last few days a combination of local emissions, light winds, pollution from the continent and dust blown over from the Sahara caused a spike in the UK Air Quality Index compiled by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

And those higher than usual levels of pollution may bring on health effects in some.

See the Public Health England (PHE) website for further details on the advice issued.

Air quality has always been a key issue in the UK, particularly in the workplace. People understandably want the appropriate level of reassurance regarding the suitability and health of their environment. Although we cannot do anything about Sahara dust or wind direction we can ensure that our indoor environments are well looked after! The best way to verify this in the workplace is through independent indoor air quality testing to give everyone the necessary level of comfort.
