New BBC films educate children about the NHS

As the NHS marks its 75th anniversary, the BBC has launched five short videos for children about the work of the NHS.

The films explore the history of the service and how it has changed over the years.

They also cover the wide range of professions – clinical and non-clinical – in the NHS and the development of nursing as a profession, through the lives of Mary Seacole, Florence Nightingale, Edith Cavell and Kofoworola Abeni Pratt.

Produced by BBC Teach, children will learn about what humans need to stay healthy including hygiene and medicines. The films including teaching notes.
