NHS celebrated on iconic Piccadilly lights

These powerful images show how – on the NHS’s 75th birthday (5 July) – the Service and its staff were celebrated on the iconic Piccadilly lights in central London.

At 11.30am, the Lights played a special film with Team GB, ParalympicsGB and Special Olympics GB sports stars sharing their own personal stories of thanks for the NHS. This included Britain’s most successful male tennis player, Sir Andy Murray.

In the film, Sir Andy said: “To me the NHS is very important, they’ve always been there for my family when we’ve really needed them.

“Whether that’s been in the middle of the night when one of my children is ill and we need to see someone urgently, they’re always there. The staff have been incredible and are always so helpful”.
