East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT) is seeking a new Non-Executive Director to join our dynamic Board. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare excellence for our community.

In recent years, ESHT has undergone a transformative improvement journey, achieving stronger clinical, operational, and financial performance. As a Board, we are committed to evidence-based governance, high standards, and fostering a supportive culture that allows our staff to thrive.

We are now looking for a new Non-Executive Director, to contribute to the strategic direction and effective governance of the Trust, ensuring that we continue to meet the needs of our patients, staff, and wider community. You will bring independence, experience, and constructive challenge to Board discussions, holding our executive team to account and promoting a culture of excellence. Our new NED will also chair our Audit and Risk Committee, overseeing financial probity, risk management, and quality assurance processes to ensure transparency and accountability.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financial management, risk, and governance, with experience in chairing committees.
  • Board-level experience in a complex organisations, ideally with knowledge of healthcare or the public sector.
  • A strong commitment to ESHT’s values, with a leadership style that is compassionate, inclusive, and authentic.
