Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity, Chair (supporting University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust)

Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity (DBHC) is one of the largest NHS charities in the East Midlands, providing support to the patients and staff at University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB). DBHC’s mission is to partner with UHDB in serving the population of Derby, Derbyshire and Staffordshire by providing Exceptional Care Together, through Preventative Research, Enhanced Care and Investment in the Future.

The charity will be transitioning to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and as such are recruiting a Chair. As Chair of the independent charity, you will lead the board and the strategic direction of the charity, ensuring governance and compliance to the highest standards as well as guiding and constructively challenging the charity. You will be pivotal in enabling DBHC to reach CIO status in 2025/26 as well as supporting the growth ambitions and increasing grant giving opportunities.

The successful Chair will need to have chaired a Board, preferably in the charitable or healthcare sector, have experience of managing multiple board-level stakeholder groups and understand the requirements of robust charity governance. The role of DBHC Chair requires a time commitment of two days per month, reducing to one day per month once the charity is established as a CIO.

We are an inclusive employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds to ensure that our Board reflects the diversity of our communities. If you would like to have an initial conversation, please call or email our recruitment partners at Hunter Healthcare; James McLeod or Jenny Adrian at jadrian@hunter-healthcare.com or 07939 250362.
