The aim of this enhanced service specification is to protect those children who are 2 and 3 years of age but not aged 4 on 31 August 2024 providing individual protection to those children, by offering protection against the most prevalent strains of the influenza virus. It is also to reduce the transmission of influenza in the wider population, some of whom are most at risk of serious illness or death should they develop influenza.
