This statement describes the powers available to NHS bodies to collect, analyse and publish information on health inequalities, and NHS England’s views on how those powers should be used to reduce inequalities in access and outcomes (section 13SA NHS Act 2006).

It will support relevant NHS bodies to fulfil their health inequalities legal duties and inform an evidence-led improvement approach to healthcare inequalities, in line with Core20PLUS5. It provides guidance on how to collect and analyse information on health inequalities, how this should be used to inform local action and how this should be reflected in annual reports.

To support annual reporting requirements, a set of key lines of enquiry have been developed alongside a menu of measures aligned with national policy priorities.
