This document provides a framework for the Paediatric Intensive Care (PIC) community response to manage escalating and unplanned peaks in demand for critical care beds.

Summary

It is intended for use by all NHS acute hospital providers with paediatric intensive care facilities on site but recognises that whole system solutions may sometimes be required to ensure timely access to intensive care for the sickest children.
