A nurse-led study by Haddard et al (2010) evaluated the effectiveness of a bespoke short training programme for mental health problems in children and young people, which incorporated interactive and didactic teaching with printed and electronic resources.

Summary

This school nurse development programme delivered significant improvements in some aspects of depression recognition and understanding. It was also associated with increased confidence in working with young people experiencing mental health problems.
