This document seeks to provide more clarity on the role of a healthcare support worker (HCSW) and insight on some of the misconceptions about the HCSW role that may prevent a potential candidate from applying, despite being a perfect fit.

Contributions have been provided by HCSWs who are currently in post and individuals who work closely with HCSWs, including practice educators. Insight has also been provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), obtained from prospective candidates.
