What we do

The Regional Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team provide oversight to equalities priorities across the South East. They provide an effective and efficient consultation service to ensure that EDI is furthered for the benefit of the workforce in the region, and in turn, that they are supported and developed to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients and service users. The team also provide internal facing advice to ensure that EDI is considered across the work of the NHSE regional team.

The team:

  • Supports systems and organisations through consultancy and specialist advice.
  • Provides leadership on regional implementation of NHS EDI priorities.
  • Advises on Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) and Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) improvements across the region for ICBs and providers.
  • Provides oversight and insight to harness a growth in maturity of ICBs in respect of EDI.
  • Connects systems to enable shared learning and adoption and spread of EDI good practice.
  • Collaborates with regional HR, Workforce and OD, Workforce intelligence, Talent and Leadership Teams, mainstreaming EDI subject matter expertise across these workstreams.
