South East Talent and Leadership Team overview

The NHS England South East Talent and Leadership team, is part of the South East People and Culture team, within the Workforce, Transformation and Education directorate.

Working in partnership to embed high-quality system-wide Talent and Leadership practice across the South East region, with a focus on equality, diversity and inclusion, we support the implementation of recommendations from the Messenger Review, NHS People Plan, NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, and the ambitions set out in the NHS Long-Term Plan.

We do this in three ways:

  • Governance: facilitate and overview processes such as pay-cases, Fit and Proper Persons Test, and Board appraisals.
  • Work in partnership with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), systems, and organisations, to meet talent and leadership objectives as set out in strategic papers and national reviews.
  • Improvement: curate and support executive career and talent pipelines including Chairs, Chief Executive Officers, Executive Directors, Non-Executive Directors, and professional pipelines including managing the regional Executive Director Talent pool and the CEO talent pool.
