Cancer Waiting Times, April to December 2011 (Q1, Q2 and Q3 2011-12)
The official statistics on commissioner-based NHS cancer waiting times, in a new quarterly format, produced by the Department of Health were released on 23 March 2012 in accordance with Code of Practice for Official Statistics .

The key points from the latest release are:
The key results for outpatient services and first definitive treatments show that, in England during the period April to December 2011:
- Two week wait – % of patients seen by a specialist within two weeks of an urgent GP referral for suspected cancer
- Q1 2011-12 – 95.4%
- Q2 2011-12 – 95.7%
- Q3 2011-12 – 96.2%
- One Month (31-day) wait – % of patients who began first treatment within 31 days of diagnosis, for all cancers
- Q1 2011-12 – 98.2%
- Q2 2011-12 – 98.4%
- Q3 2011-12 – 98.5%
- Two Month (62-day wait) – % of patients who began first treatment within 62 days of an urgent GP referral for suspected cancer, for all cancers
- Q1 2011-12 – 86.5%
- Q2 2011-12 – 87.2%
- Q3 2011-12 – 87.8%
Figures by cancer or treatment type (for first and subsequent treatments) and for non-cancer two week wait activity are as follows:
- Breast symptom two week wait – % of people urgently referred for breast symptoms (where cancer was not initially suspected) who were seen within two weeks of referral
- Q1 2011-12 – 94.6%
- Q2 2011-12 – 96.0%
- Q3 2011-12 – 96.3%
- 31-day wait – % of people who were treated within 31 days where the subsequent treatment was surgery – (97.7% in Q2 2011-12)
- Q1 2011-12 – 97.5%

- Q3 2011-12 – 97.6%
- 31-day wait – % of people treated within 31 days where the subsequent treatment was an anti-cancer drug regimen

- 31-day wait – % of people treated within 31 days where the subsequent treatment was a course of radiotherapy
- Q1 2011-12 – 98.1%

- 62-day wait – % of people who began first treatment within 62 days following a consultants decision to upgrade a patient’s priority, for all cancers
- Q1 2011-12 – 93.1%

- 62-day wait – % of people who began first treatment for cancer within 62 days of referral from an NHS cancer screening service, for all cancers
