Volunteering to care for people with Ebola
Jane Cummings, Chief Nursing Officer for England has recorded a video blog thanking volunteers who have been out to Sierra Leone to care for people with Ebola. In her video Jane also appeals to skilled nurses who have experience of caring for acutely ill people to consider going out to West Africa as a volunteer.
Jane Cummings said: “We know the best chance we’ve got of treating people with that disease and containing it is to use the clinical expertise of people around the world, and England and the UK is clearly leading the way.”
Jane went on to say: “I know it’s a big ask , but if you feel willing to volunteer, we will be forever grateful as will so many other people in the world, so please think about it”
