Active Bystander Training

Delivered in partnership with NHS England London Equality and Inclusion Programme and The Active Bystander Training Company

As part of recommendation eight of NHS London’s Workforce Race Strategy, London’s Equality and Inclusion Workforce has commissioned Active Bystander Training sessions for trusts and ALBs within London. This offer has also been extended to NHS England regional teams.

The training aims to empower staff across the NHS community in London to challenge poor behaviours that may have become normalised over time, and bring about change through the reinforcement of messages defining the boundaries of unacceptable behaviour. For more information on the training, please visit the Active Bystander website.

The training is user-friendly and has previously received positive feedback. Delegates will learn how to keep a cool head in a challenging situation and learn language techniques to challenge and/or respond to poor behaviours when they occur. Each delegate also receives an Active Bystander toolkit, which can be accessed from a mobile phone for quick and easy reference of the techniques learned.

Please register your teams interest at London.RaceStrategy@nhs.net – providing your directorate/service area, names and email addresses of the staff who are interested.
