The Developing Aspirant Leaders Programme

The NHS England (Midlands) award-winning Developing Aspirant Leaders (DAL) Programme supports ethnic minority nurses and midwives aspiring towards a senior leadership role. DAL was created by ethnic minority nurses and midwives for ethnic minority nurses and midwives and provides academic learning, sponsorship and the ability to safely stretch, delivering a sustainable positive action scheme for progression.

Cohort 2 of the pilot programme completed in November 2023 and a celebration book has now been launched to celebrate the success of the award-winning programme. The e-book is available to download here.

Regional Chief Nurse Professor Nina Morgan launched the celebration book saying “This commemorative book celebrates the incredible achievements of the second cohort of 30 DAL participants, who have all completed the programme with exceptional results. The book showcases each of the participants, their leadership stretch assignments and the overall success of the programme. The outstanding work of the participants has already led to improved patient and staff experiences.”

The DAL programme is currently undergoing full independent evaluation following the pilot cohorts.
