Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) CQUIN

To support the delivery of the national AMR CQUIN, NHS England (NHSE) has been working with NHS Improvement (NHSI) and Public Health England (PHE) to develop FAQ’s and data collection forms. These documents have been developed in response to the feedback NHS England, NHS Improvement and PHE received from providers and commissioners across the system.  Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback and many thanks to colleagues who have supported the development and testing of these tools to ensure they are fit for purpose

AMR CQUIN FAQ’s (updated 14 July 2016) – this will provide information on frequently asked questions with regards to this national CQUIN. If any further information or clarity is required please e-mail

Baseline Data – The data submitted for the QP represented greater than 90% of all antibiotic usage reported by acute providers. Information on the antibiotics not included as part of the QP will be taken from IMS to give a total value of antibiotic usage. TB medications are excluded from the baseline data set and will not be counted towards total antibiotic usage for this CQUIN. Fidaxomicin is not included in the baseline as data was not available from IMS until 2014, however it will be included in the end of year total antibiotic consumption for this CQUIN. If you want to resubmit your baseline data then this data can be submitted until the 14th August 2016. If a provider has resubmitted their data for 2013/14 then the baseline will be corrected. If there are any questions or queries with regards to this spreadsheet or baseline data then please e-mail

Part A – Antibiotic Consumption Data – this should be used to submit antibiotic consumption data for financial years 2014/15 and 2015/16 as well as submission at the end of each quarter for 2016/17. Antibiotic Consumption Data for 2014/15 and 2015/16 can be submitted either annually or quarterly. This spreadsheet can also be used if you wish to resubmit data for 2013/14. As there has been some discrepancy as to how this data should be submitted and the delayed publication of the consumption spreadsheet then this data for 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 can be submitted until the 14th August 2016. All data once submitted will be available via PHE’s AMR Fingertips after a six week data cleaning period. If there are any questions or queries with regards to this spreadsheet of data submission please e-mail

Part B Data Collection and Submission (updated 14 July 2016) – PHE has developed a submission tool (and sample data collection form) to facilitate the submission of Part B (empiric review) of the Antimicrobial Resistance CQUIN to commissioners. Following submission of the quarterly data an e-mail will be sent to the email address of the person submitting. A list of those organisations who have submitted data will be available on the NHS England website as well as PHE’s AME Fingertips . If there are any questions or queries with regards to this spreadsheet or data submission please e-mail

The document was revised to correct an issue transfer of data from month 2 and 3 onto the summary quarterly data.
