Ian Cannon from Stockton has been a chef and baker at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust for 26 years.

Ian, who has three children aged between eight and 18, will work a shift on Christmas day from 6am until 2pm.

He said: “The majority of my day this year will be spent at the University Hospital of North Tees this year, in the kitchen preparing food and baking for our patients and staff.

“My eight-year-old will no doubt be up early, so we will open some presents at about 5am before I come to work.

“Then hopefully once my shift is over I will come home to enjoy some food with my close family. I am then off on boxing day so I will be able to enjoy some time with the family then.

“It’s something I am very used to, it’s fantastic to be able to play my part in helping our patients and staff over the festive period.”
