NHS England is committed to working with patients, patient groups and stakeholders in developing the services it commissions. Public consultation is an important part of this process, allowing us to test proposals, check that draft policies are well evidenced, ensure potential impacts are understood with appropriate mitigations identified, and consider alternatives before final decisions are taken.

This consultation seeks views on a revised clinical policy on masculinising and feminising (MAF) hormones for children and adolescents with gender incongruence or dysphoria, commissioned through NHS England’s Children and Young People’s Gender Service for those up to 18 years. The consultation runs for 90 days from 9 March to 7 June 2026, after which all feedback will be considered before the final policy is published.
