NHS England and NHS Improvement maintains a range of voluntary and statutory Equality Frameworks and Information Standards to allow services, commissioning organisations, policymakers and other system partners to identify and assess how they are addressing the diversity of the people they are looking after.

These include the

• the Accessible Information Standard which addresses people’s information needs
• the Sexual Orientation Monitoring Standard which provides a consistent approach to the recording of Sexual Orientation
• the NHS Equality Delivery System a system to allow organisations to review and improve their performance for people with characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010
