The Chief Nursing Officer for England’s Summit 2018 provided an opportunity for the senior nursing midwifery and care leadership community to explore how to deal with current challenges and use their collective leadership and ambition to shape the future of our health and care system. Their professional ability to adapt, innovate and lead is critical to achieving high-quality care, whether we work in practice, academia, management or policy.
The 2018 CNO Summit built upon the work done collectively to implement Leading Change, Adding Value; a framework for nursing, midwifery and care staff. It placed particular emphasis on the impact of nursing globally, issues of designing and creating a workforce fit for the health and care system of the future and the importance of our individual and collective leadership in changing times.
With the challenges in the current climate of increased demand, financial constraints and the need to shape and lead transformation across the whole health and care system in mind, the Summit also placed particular emphasis on the importance of resilient leadership.
The 2018 CNO Summit took place on 7 and 8 March 2018 at the ACC Liverpool. The programme included speakers and leaders both international and from across the heath and care system in England.
