National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme Pioneer sites
Neighbourhood teams are already working hard within 8 pioneer sites in the North East and Yorkshire region taking part in the National Neighbourhood Health Implementation Programme (NNHIP).
This Neighbourhood model aims to fundamentally change the current approach of a reactive NHS with multiple separate services which is often a confusing place to navigate for the public – to one which is proactive – actively seeking vulnerable people who are at risk of increasing health and care needs.
The model also looks beyond health care encompassing the wider social determinants of health and the interplay between the NHS, the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, local authorities and beyond.
The wave 1 programme began in September 2025 with the ambition to scale up more services over the course of the next year.
This first wave covers 43 sites across England, from Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the south-west to Sunderland in the north-east, ensuring neighbourhoods nationwide can benefit from these new services. Read more here: Millions of people to benefit from healthcare on their doorstep – GOV.UK
