Infected Blood Psychological Service
A national service offering bespoke psychological support for people who have been infected and affected by contaminated blood or blood products is now open for referrals.
The Infected Blood Psychological Service (IBPS) began supporting the first group of infected and affected people in September 2024 and all 16 IBPS centres across England are now open.
Infected and affected people in England can access the IBPS service by ringing 0300 131 0444, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
When someone is first in contact with a centre their need for support will be discussed with them. Those who do have a support need will then have a psychological review and receive treatment from clinicians with specialist expertise in the issues facing those infected and affected by contaminated blood or blood products. The IBPS has been co-designed with those infected and affected by contaminated blood, their families and NHS staff.
