‘Flu ends with you’ campaign boosts vaccine uptake at Chelwest

A flexible, staff-focused campaign helped Chelsea and Westminster achieve the highest frontline flu vaccination uptake in north-west London.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital increased frontline staff flu vaccination uptake from 36.1% in 2024/25 to 44.6% in 2025/26 – the highest uptake among acute trusts in north-west London and the 4th highest rate across London.

The campaign focused on making vaccination visible, convenient and easy to access. Staff could be vaccinated at static clinics, by roving vaccinators or through trained peer vaccinators across trust sites.

The trust also continued its own ‘Flu ends with you’ campaign, building on a familiar visual style used in previous years, so staff knew what to look for. This was supported through the intranet, staff bulletins, social media, campaign videos and increased communications activity during November.

Peer vaccinator details were published on the intranet, while a dedicated email address and confidential answerphone allowed staff to ask questions. Vouchers were awarded to the peer vaccinators who vaccinated the most colleagues, recognising their contribution and encouraging momentum.

The trust plans to train more senior clinical nurses as peer vaccinators, making vaccination even more accessible for frontline teams.
