Keith and Angela Laundon

On the day of the stroke in June 2021, Keith noticed he was unable to move his right arm and his speech was slurred. He called for his wife Angela, who immediately came to his side. Keith’s voice was hesitant, but he was able to answer her. Angela knew right away that Keith was experiencing a stroke, having previously spotted the same signs with her mother, and dialled 999.  Keith was immediately taken to the hospital for a scan and had a thrombectomy within hours, and three days later he was back at home.

Keith has since made an incredible recovery. He is happiest when gardening and doing DIY, but his biggest achievement was when he had the opportunity to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding soon after he experienced the stroke. Keith and Angela also love touring around the country in their motorhome, alongside spending time with their family. They’re passionate about the importance of acting F.A.S.T.

Keith says: “It’s important to remember that even if you spot only one of the signs of stroke, you need to dial 999 straight away. It might be subtle, but I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to Act F.A.S.T. if you spot any one the signs in yourself or your loved one.

“F.A.S.T. is such a powerful way of knowing if you’re having a stroke. Thanks to my wife, Angela, I was able to make a full recovery and walk our beautiful daughter down the aisle.”
