Liaison Psychiatry Mental Health

As a signatory to the Crisis Care Concordat, NHS England began a major program on crisis care, with the aim of ensuring 24/7 access to the right services for people experiencing mental health crisis. This includes £249m investment in urgent and emergency mental health liaison in acute hospitals, and investment in community crisis response.
The Five year Forward View for Mental Health objective states that by 2020/21, all acute hospitals will have all-age mental health liaison teams in place, and at least 50% of these will meet the ‘Core 24’ service standard as a minimum.The East Midlands Mental Health Clinical Network is facilitating local systems across the East Midlands footprint to transform Liaison Psychiatry Mental Health Services and implement the NICE standard evidence based treatment pathway, and Core 24 provision.The network support offer includes;

  • interventions to prepare systems for transformation funding rounds (Wave 1 and Wave 2 Urgent and Emergency Liaison Mental Health)
  • clinical leadership to inform implementation of key national guidelines
  • facilitation of local provider service improvement networks to support transformation at scale and pace
