Working on an orthopaedic trauma ward throughout the pandemic

In March, The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust took over responsibility for orthopaedic trauma work for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and North Wales which helped to free up capacity in the acute hospitals managing an influx of Covid patients.

This meant usual elective was halted and staff on orthopaedic wards were quickly caring for trauma patients.

NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin CCG deliver specialist Coronavirus assessment vehicle

During the summer, NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin CCG designed a specialist vehicle to deliver Coronavirus assessments for housebound patients or those who were unable to travel.

The vehicle’s design enabled easy decontamination and contained two separate compartments to isolate clean, and used equipment.
