Stopping smoking: Ongoing support from your pharmacy

Introduction

Firstly Congratulations!

Committing to an attempt to quit smoking is one of the best decisions you can make for your own health and your pocket.

Whatever your motivations to stop smoking, we are here to support you all the way.

How does it work?

Before you leave hospital, the smoking support staff will ask you in which pharmacy you would like to be supported for your quit attempt when you go home.

This is your choice and you may consider a pharmacy that is closest to your home or your place of work, or one that has more flexible opening hours.

How we will we use your information?

We will use your personal information to manage your care safely.

All your personal information will be held securely by the NHS and will not be shared with third parties.

About your ongoing support

  • Before you leave hospital, the pharmacy will be notified that you wish to receive continuing support and help from them
  • Once you are home, they will attempt to contact you at least three times to arrange a convenient face- to-face or remote appointment, so you don’t run out of the medicine you need to help you stop smoking.
  • If you have not heard from your chosen pharmacy, please contact them directly
  • Our support team will be in touch shortly to ask about your experience.
