Karen McCracken – Improvement Manager in our Emergency Care Improvement Support Team (ECIST)

Karen usually works in our ECIST team but has been released part time from her substantive post to support the Covid-19 vaccination programme.

She explains: “As a nurse, I felt compelled to respond to the request for support with the vaccination programme. Fortunately, I was able to gain approval to be released from my substantive post and I am now providing one day per week supporting a vaccination hub.

“With over 30 years of nursing experience, I have many memories of being part of a patient’s journey. Being able to provide some of our most vulnerable patients with this long-awaited vaccination will certainly be a memory that I will cherish forever.

“I would urge any registered nurses who are thinking about supporting the vaccination programme to get involved.”
